During Milan Design Week 2026, we present the revival of a German design icon: the Z.Stuhl by Ernst Moeckl from 1971. A design that was ahead of its time and has lost none of its relevance. Under the title Some Things Deserve a Comeback, we are bringing this visionary cantilever chair back into the present, making it newly accessible as a timeless object between design history and contemporary living.

As an early cantilever chair made of plastic, the Z.Stuhl exemplifies the spirit of creative innovation of the 1970s. Its flowing form, sculptural silhouette, and innovative one-piece construction combine ergonomic comfort with technical precision. The design found its place in both East and West and continues to resonate to this day.

Anlässlich der Milan Design Week 2026 präsentieren wir das Revival einer deutschen Designikone: den Z.Stuhl von Ernst Moeckl aus dem Jahr 1971. Ein Entwurf, der seiner Zeit voraus war und nichts von seiner Relevanz verloren hat.

Unter dem Titel Some Things Deserve a Comeback holen wir den visionären Freischwinger zurück in die Gegenwart und machen ihn als zeitloses Objekt zwischen Designgeschichte und aktuellem Wohnen neu erfahrbar.

Als früher Freischwinger aus Kunststoff steht der Z.Stuhl exemplarisch für den gestalterischen Aufbruch der 1970er Jahre. Seine fließende Form, die skulpturale Silhouette und die innovative Fertigung aus einem Guss verbinden ergonomischen Komfort mit technischer Präzision. Der Entwurf fand sowohl in Ost als auch in West seinen Platz und wirkt bis heute nach.
