Design: Herbert Hirche, 1957
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Keen on finding hidden treasures in Herbert
Hirche’s old home in Stuttgart, we started in-
vestigations by visiting his daughter Conny
Hirche, who still lives there. Within all the old
relicts from another era there was Furniture,
paintings, textiles, glass and tableware from
earlier decades including the fifties and sixties…
A real treasure trove!
We found a low chair, designed for the fam-
ous fair “Interbau” in Berlin 1956. We were
speechless when we saw it. Why did this
chair never go into production? A chair in
the spirit of Saarinen and Eames, though
still an independent design.
Decisions were made quickly. The “H 57” is
now available in the original green “Velour”
fabric, with options in grey and dark brown.
For special friends, we offer suede in cap-
puccino brown, grey-brown or black…
Black nappa is also available.
THE GREAT TREASURE
